When the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear is held May 31 through June 2 on Belle Isle, i.M. Branded’s imprint - both literally and figuratively - will be all over the island.
Now in its 30th year, the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear draws hundreds of thousands of race fans to downtown Detroit and i.M. Branded produces the signage that promotes the race around the entire island, including Courtesy Cars and the Sponsor Summit. The event will include the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit featuring the cars of the IndyCar Series, the Chevrolet Sports Car Classic with the exotic sports cars of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, and the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli.
This is the 10th year i.M. Branded has provided graphics for the race. Involvement in the Grand Prix is the culmination of a nearly year-long process of planning that began in August of last year, not long after the last race. The 10-month project requires the coordination of dozens of companies, and the efforts of hundreds of individuals in order to complete the creation and installation of the more than 5,000 graphics that bring the Grand Prix to life for its fans and its sponsors. Nearly every sign on the island - from track sponsor signage to maps and directions for crew and fans - is provided by i.M. Branded. Sign printing began in February and continues through Memorial Day Weekend at i.M. Branded’s Pontiac headquarters.
These branded pieces enhance the experience for participants and crew, sponsors, attendees and volunteers - from two-story entryways, to sections of brightly-colored 10-foot venue maps. i.M. Branded’s professionals work directly with the event’s sponsorship team to help determine the best locations for signage on and around the race track, and provide branding support for the Grand Prix’s courtesy cars, Sponsor Summit, Hot Lap and other events held throughout the week.
“Every part of our company is involved from our graphics professionals to our production team,” said i.M. Branded President Jim Whitehead. “It helps to generate a significant amount of excitement in the metro area and revenue for our local businesses.”
And the work of i.M. Branded is important for another reason - the Grand Prix is one of the most significant events held in Detroit each year and becomes the face of Detroit for a national audience. In addition to the racing, the event features live music, entertainment, interactive displays, food, drinks and fun for fans of all ages. The weekend of racing at Belle Isle generates tens of millions of dollars in total spending across the entire Metro Detroit region. And the team at i.M. Branded plays a critical role in making sure the event lives up to its world-class reputation.
As i.M. Branded’s involvement in the Grand Prix has grown, the company has developed partnerships with event sponsors while providing other co-branding support. i.M. Branded is not only a vendor of the Grand Prix, but also a sponsor.
i.M. Branded recognizes the impact the event can have on children, particularly those who are struggling with health issues. i.M. Branded announced that it will host Make-A-Wish of Michigan at its Grand Prix Chalet, offering up close and personal trackside action Friday of race weekend. The team at IMB will host children and family members who are part of the Make-A-Wish program. i.M. Branded is a regular supporter of Make-A-Wish.
“There’s nothing like making a dream come true for a child and his or her family,” said i.M. Branded President Jim Whitehead. “Make-A-Wish is an organization that our entire team here enjoys being involved in.”
